Integration today announced that the newest version of RainMaker
Platinum E-Billing will fully support the LEDES (Legal Electronic
Data Exchange Standard) XML E-Billing Version 2 standard.
RainMaker’s Platinum 8.0 E-Billing not only meets the industry standards set by Version 2, it enhances the end-user experience by adding practical features including:
• Advanced controls for multi-jurisdiction tax authorities and
tax types.
• Complete use of client/matter invoice look-up features on e-bills.
• Enhanced project allocation features for split-party billing
on separate e-bills.
• Enhanced invoice level discounting.
The LEDES XML E-Billing Version 2 format changes how an invoice is calculated, offering the ability to itemize complex taxes, bill alternate fee arrangements, and apply credits and debits on a matter. In addition, it supports multiple vendor tax identification numbers, eliminates non-mainstream e-billing data elements, is consistent in the use of terminology, and contains elements necessary to support international currencies. It is intended to be the future direction of the LEDES e-billing standard.

The LEDES Oversight Committee (LOC), comprised of voluntary legal industry representatives, is responsible for creating and maintaining open standards for the electronic exchange of billing and other related information between corporations and firms.
