RainMaker Software and Computer Law Systems Merge
Legal Industry to Benefit from Development and Customer Service Synergies
January 5, 2005
RainMaker Software, a leading full-service provider
of law firm Financial and Practice Management software, and Computer Law Systems (CLS), a
long-standing leader in the legal Financial and Case Matter Management software market,
announce the merger of CLS into RainMaker Software, Inc. The merger represents a continued
market consolidation in recent years under RainMaker Software and provides the company with
an increase in its mid-size law firm client base and a new major presence in both corporate law
departments and government agencies.
“Our clients and prospects will benefit as we provide them with new feature-rich products and
quality service at very competitive prices. Our staffs are energized and excited about the merger
and our growth opportunities,” said James Hammond, president of RainMaker Software. “In the
past, both companies earned a reputation for delivering high quality products, providing value
and giving client’s personal attention. RainMaker is equally committed to delivering superior
technology and customer service. We also believe our industry will continue to consolidate and
we plan on continuing our leadership role in the market.”
RainMaker will continue to support all current CLS products and CLS clients will benefit by
having access to RainMaker’s Business Intelligence and Web-based technology. All CLS
employees along with the Minneapolis area office will be maintained along with some expected
hiring of additional employees.
Computer Law Systems was incorporated in 1970 as Computer Sharing Corporation to provide
computer systems and services to law firms throughout the United States. In 1979, CLS
introduced programs for use on a minicomputer, and began marketing in-house computer systems
and remote on-line services. In June 1985, the corporate name was changed to Computer Law
Systems, Inc. to better reflect the company's commitment to serving the automation needs of
leading corporate legal departments, government agencies and law firms from coast-to-coast and
throughout the Americas.
Steve Schley, president of CLS, stated, “I am so pleased with the opportunity presented by the
merger with RainMaker Software. Our companies have always competed with a mutual respect
and admiration for each other’s products and services. RainMaker and CLS have been innovators
in the market for years and we expect that trend to continue.”
RainMaker Software, Inc. maintains offices in Pennsylvania, New York, Texas and Minnesota.
The company has more than 36 years of legal software experience and a staff of highly qualified
personnel. The average company employee has more than 10 years of legal experience to insure
