James J. Hammond, President

James (Jim) Hammond, President of RainMaker Software, LLC, has more than 29 years of experience building and guiding legal technology companies in the areas of software development, implementation and consulting. An accomplished business strategist and marketer, Jim’s innovative perspective has helped to spearhead change and enterprise growth in every leadership role he has held.

In February 1992, Jim began his career at ASA International (RainMaker Software’s holding company) as National Sales Manager, responsible for the development, marketing and support of ASA’s products as well as a client base in North and South America. Jim was also responsible for the development and implementation of ASA’s Legal Practice Management suite and web-enabled software, incorporating Microsoft® SQL Server technology. His proclivity for beneficial change led him to a promotion to Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 1993, and then to Executive Vice President of Sales and Product Development in 1999. Finally, in the beginning of 2001, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager. Jim’s business savvy was instrumental in the acquisitions of Precedent Technology (the Pyramid product), CompuTrac, Inc. and, most recently, Computer Law Systems (the SUMMIT product).

With a unique blend of natural leadership abilities, creativity and operational strengths Jim was appointed President of RainMaker Software in 2002. His strategic approach to building a business brand helped to create the hallmark of the company; a customer-centric approach which included the development of new services such as a client Web Portal, Web-based client training and user meetings, along with many other benefits that have earned RainMaker one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the industry. In addition, Jim’s forward-thinking has been the catalyst in developing new “leap-frog” products in the legal market such as integrated Business Intelligence with Digital Dashboards, and the 2007 release of Platinum version 8.0 (with Microsoft SharePoint Portal integration). With more than 400 new items touching 20 modules in Platinum 8.0 it is the largest, most comprehensive release in the 38-year history of the company. His leadership has led RainMaker Software to record profitability through marketing, brand awareness and high quality, innovative products.

Prior to joining ASA, Jim played a key role in the sales and marketing release of major product lines and service offerings at Barrister Information Systems. In his capacity as Vice President of Field Operations, he directed the sales and services function throughout Barrister’s North American network of regional and branch offices.

Jim began his legal career with Step-Saver Data Systems where, as Vice President of Business Development, he set up distribution channels for legal software systems.
