RM:	How long have you been using RainMaker Platinum Enterprise Legal Software?
JL:	Since December 2003, when the law firm opened. Buckley Kolar LLP was formed through a mass exodus from the Washington office of a 1,000 person national firm.
RM:	Please describe some actual results and/or benefits of using the RainMaker legal software product since the implementation of the software.
JL:	Time is recorded daily; cash receipts are recorded daily; current reporting has improved; we have simultaneous cash basis and accrual basis accounting; we utilize the recurring entry feature for monthly vendor payments (rent, parking, health insurance, maintenance contracts, etc.); we do not need to hire extra employees; bills go out with all time worked in a particular month (no late billing) and our timely “sent bills” increase cash flow.
RM:	Please describe Buckley Kolar’s "best practice(s)" that have been put into action as a result of implementing RainMaker’s enterprise legal software.
JL:	One of the questions that I asked the founders of Buckley Kolar, as I was determining the procedures to implement in the new firm, concerned time entry. I was told that the secretary of each timekeeper recorded the time in the system (at the previous firm). I said that that was very inefficient. They agreed and since starting the law firm, all but four timekeepers record their own time. By December 1st at 1:00 p.m., 100% of time was recorded and billing worksheets, as of November 30th, were being produced. Billing worksheets were prepared by December 2nd and out the door shortly thereafter.
RM:	What led you to choose RainMaker?
JL:	Since I had the job of setting up the firm from scratch, and only had 60 days in which to do it, I hired Consultant, Mark Grant, CPA, to guide us in the software selection process and aid in its installation. Mark has over 20 years experience with law firm accounting systems and has assisted in the installation of software from the largest national firms to the smallest local firms. After evaluating the needs of the new Buckley Kolar, he narrowed the search to four vendors, RainMaker being one. Mark and I sat through Web-ex demonstrations of each product. RainMaker was the last.
