Data Mapping and Documentation
A key event in the implementation plan is the Data Mapping Meeting, which ensures that both parties have a complete understanding of how the data from the former system will be converted into the RainMaker system. A data map from this meeting is documented and then utilized by RainMaker programmers for the actual data conversion and validation.
RainMaker is capable of electronically converting all existing detailed data files including time and billing, accounts receivable, general ledger, docket entries, marketing contacts, conflict related parties and case management information. RainMaker typically converts unlimited historic financial information so users can see such valuable information as client billings from inception thru current periods.
Test Conversion and Validation
Mid-way thru the implementation cycle, RainMaker provides the firm with a test conversion of the data exactly in the format agreed to during the mapping meeting. This test data has been validated to be 100% accurate and is compared against reports provided by the firm. The firm is responsible for reviewing and signing off on the test data, prior to the live conversion, to ensure both parties agree on the validity of the conversion. RainMaker uses the test-converted data for on-site training at the firm, which provides users a more comfortable start-up experience.
Final Conversion and Validation
Similar to the test conversion, RainMaker provides a final conversion and full validation of the data just prior to the “go-live” date. In preparation for this final step, the firm provides a month-end close copy of the data and reports. Since this is a crucial milestone in the project, RainMaker visits the firm with the final converted data and provides on-site support the week the firm goes live on the system.
