RainMaker Platinum Business Intelligence (BI) software allows firms to easily access, extract and analyze information in practical formats for supporting critical business decisions.
BI tools eliminate the cost, frustration and delays involved with custom programming and report writing. Information may be automatically presented to the user in a variety of formats including Microsoft® Excel, PivotTables, spreadsheets, charts and email notifications. Business Intelligence is built around a data warehouse which is, in short, a database that is separate from the time and billing system, but automatically updated by it. It is designed, specifically, to provide fast analysis of information through data cubes.
In addition to the data warehouse, Business Intelligence .NET includes a series of information, organization screens and an output manager that allows users to design and save reports, and schedule them for automatic distribution via email or directly to a RainMaker Web page. Business Intelligence .NET also offers a set of e-RainMaker Digital Scorecards to give users access to current payment, investment and performance data on their desktops. Business Intelligence’s ZOOM .NET module provides a window into Key Performance Indicators (KPI) at all levels within the firm including departments, clients, matters or offices. Built on flexible Microsoft® .NET technology, RainMaker Platinum Business Intelligence .NET is deployed via a browser and, with appropriate security, can be accessed from any secure Internet or Intranet connection.The Goal

Current Situation
The firm needed a way to easily query the database and get a response on screen client profitability, as well as analyze the type of work their attorneys were performing over any given period of time. This information needed to be available for the attorneys at the click of a button. With their former system, in order to produce ad-hoc reports for the firm management and attorneys, the accounting department would have to gather all of the information and then manually re-format it into Microsoft® Excel spreadsheets, a tedious and time-consuming process. They needed the ability to easily build and electronically distribute custom reports in practical formats such as spreadsheets, PivotTables and charts.
A robust and flexible reporting solution that would tell them where they were financially and where they were going was also needed. The data to support strategic growth decisions using the firm’s past and present financial history was not available in the firm’s former system.
The RainMaker Platinum Solution
After implementing RainMaker Platinum, the firm began to realize the benefits immediately. Instead of tedious re-keying of reports, with e-RainMaker Business Intelligence and Digital Scorecards, they were able to offer management and attorneys information in an easy-to-use browser interface. Digital Scorecards were especially convenient since they can be set up on a partner desktop as a browser link, without installing local software. The firm limited the information to some partners by office and area of practice, utilizing built-in security. Because the software is browser-based, it was easy for traveling or remote attorneys and staff to access information, reports and perform time-entry with just an Internet connection.
Before RainMaker Platinum, all information had to be manually gathered and keyed into Excel format. Since the implementation of RainMaker Platinum, the firm builds and distributes custom reports with a minimum amount of time and effort, and in their choice of useful formats such as spreadsheets, PivotTables and charts.
